Since 2001, Hungarian International Aid (HIA-Hungary) has been implementing humanitarian and development programmes across Afghanistan. Through its permanent presence in the country, HIA supports vulnerable communities with humanitarian assistance, disaster response, rural development, education, health care and capacity-building initiatives.
HIA has directly assisted more than 3 million people in Afghanistan since 2001.

Humanitarian assistance
- Distribution of food and non-food items over 75,000 tons
- Humanitarian assistance for flood- and earthquake-affected communities

- (Re)construction and equipping 16 schools in Northern Afghanistan

Healthcare
- (Re)construction of Basic Health Centres
- Hygienic trainings, distribution of hygienic items

Who We Help
I rely on daily agricultural work to provide for my family. This year there was very little work because the crops were destroyed by Kapshak pests. The food assistance from WFP and HIA helped us feed our children during a very difficult time
